Easterseals Redwood’s annual Honor Ride returns Aug. 22 to Miami Whitewater Forest (9001 Mt. Hope Road, Harrison, Ohio), offering the community an opportunity to support local military veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Easterseals Redwood Military and Veteran Services has seen a 300% increase in veterans visiting the Klekamp Family Military and Veterans Center in the last year. Honor Ride is the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser for its veteran services and supports its year-round mission to connect veterans to vital resources and a network of care at no cost to them.

New this year is the addition of rucking, running, walking, or rolling in addition to bicycling. Registration includes a commemorative Honor Ribbon honoring your veteran or active-duty service member and your hero’s name will be read aloud in an Honor Ribbon ceremony before the event begins. Honor Ribbons will be carried in a pack by veterans during the ceremonial ride and then will be mailed back to purchasers around Veterans Day in November.

“It is one of the most selfless decisions a person can make to serve our country, but the transition that follows often brings about many challenges and obstacles when settling back into civilian life,” said Dave Corlett, Director of Military and Veteran Services. “We are the region’s premier resource for military veterans and their families, and it truly takes the entire community getting involved in initiatives like Honor Ride to help us better connect individuals to mentorships that’ll help them bridge that gap between military and civilian life, employment opportunities, VA benefit assistance, and more.”

The noncompetitive Honor Ride is accessible for all abilities, open to all ages and begins at 8:30 a.m. with the Honor Ribbon ceremony. Registration starts at $25 and is available online at HonorYourVet.Net.

Teams and individuals are invited to an after-party at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor for food trucks, music, local vendors, and resources for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families until 1 p.m.
