Easterseals YouthBuild program helps young adults find employment (Spectrum News 1 Ohio)

October 16, 2026

The Lopez sisters are working toward a future in construction. 18-year-old Noemi’s inspiration for this career path is taking care of her family. Her 21-year-old sister, Esmeralda, wants to set a good example for her loved ones as well.

“I actually have three kids, and that was my motivation to come here and show them I can do it. And when they grow up, they know they have a mother that tried,” Esmeralda Lopez said.

Both are part of the Easterseals Redwood YouthBuild program, which caters to 18-to-24-year-olds who don’t have a high school diploma or GED. Its goal is to teach them skills like carpentry, welding and electrical work so they can be in a better position to get a job.
